Leadership of skiing and snowboarding groups on the mountains in alpine resorts is a challenging but highly rewarding activity.
The Snowsports Course Organiser (SCO) course has been developed to give leaders confidence to organise a safe, successful and enjoyable snowsports holiday. It is a one day workshop, covering all aspects of the safe organisation and management of a school snowsports course. The course is certified by attendance and it is now a requirement for the lead teacher on the holiday by most local authorities before they will grant permission for the visit to take place.
TGM have worked with Snowsport England to host SCO courses in the North West for a number of years. The course is one day (6 hours) duration and will cover a range of topics including;-
- Aims and Educational Potential of a Snowsports Course.
- Selecting a Snowsports Course
- Planning a Snowsports Course
- Running a Snowsports Course
- Snowsports Clothing and Accessories
- Snowsports equipment
- Fitness
- Climate and Weather
- Snowsports safety
Courses are led by an experienced tutor appointed by Snowsport England and are delivered in an informal and interactive style. One of the main benefits of attending a course is the opportunity to share experiences and ideas with other leaders thus improving the overall experience for participants.
