We're a family who
love the mountains
We started TGM back in 1998 to give schools a genuinely safe, brilliantly run ski trip — and 25 years on, we're still a family-run team who'd rather be up the mountain with you than behind a desk.
How it all started
Back in 1998, a handful of teachers and lifelong skiers got together with one simple idea: give schools a ski trip that was genuinely safe, superbly organised and — above all — great fun. That's how TGM Holidays began, and more than 25 years later it's still exactly what we do.
We're still family-run, and proud of it. Many of us are qualified ski instructors who are out on the slopes with your group rather than just a voice on the phone — and some of the instructors who started with us now have their own children guiding in resort. From school ski trips to Austria and summer adventure weeks in the Alps to family and corporate getaways, we look after schools, families and businesses across the UK, from the very first enquiry to the moment you're safely back home.
Meet the TGM team
The family and friends who started TGM are still here — many of them qualified instructors you'll find on the slopes with your group. Here's who you'll be working with.

Nigel Read
Over 40 years in corporate hospitality and group travel, and a founding partner of TGM in 1998. A qualified BASI, Snowsport Scotland and PSIA ski instructor who loves helping young people improve on the slopes — his whole family ski, right down to his granddaughter.

Frank Towers
A founding member with a background teaching PE and playing professional football in the US. A fitness fanatic who's cycled across America, Frank brings 20 years of organising school ski trips — and is firmly crowned the après-ski disco king.

Stephen McGinty
Has been teaching children to ski for 40 years and co-founded TGM in 1998. A former aircraft engineer and youth worker with a real passion for customer care — both Stephen and his children are qualified BASI and PSIA instructors who work in resort.

Keith Gillies
A teacher by training who's taught skiing for almost 40 years, firmly believing in the benefits of outdoor adventure for young people. Also a first-aid trainer with a lifetime involvement in Mountain Rescue, still active with his local team.

Vanessa Sharples
After university she headed to the Alps for seasons of photography, travel writing and ski-instructor qualifications — once visiting 50 different resorts in a single season. Joined TGM in 2023 and loves working with the schools who book with us.

Gemma
Joined TGM with a background in creative marketing, digital content and brand storytelling, having previously run her own business. She works across photography, social media, campaigns and brand messaging. Outside work you'll find her by the sea with her two dachshunds, pottery painting and walking in the Lake District.

Anne Read
Over 30 years in teaching, from PE to Head of Learning Support in one of Lancashire's largest high schools. As a former school party leader who organised the annual ski trips, Anne knows exactly what party leaders need for their students.

Annette Roberts
Spent 39 years in education, most recently 13 years as Head of a junior independent school. Having organised many school ski trips, she's passionate about the confidence children gain outside the classroom, and understands what makes a trip work for every age group.
